Yesterday has been the start of a big change for The Husband.
He has never felt like he could get anywhere in his work life and just settled for being a salesman (not that there is anything wrong with that at all) so kept plodding along in the hope that at one point he may end up a manager at the store he was at but after 4ish years he was still doing what he was doing as well as doing the crazy drive into the city daily until I got my licence and then he was getting the train.
It meant we had no time together since he was working 3 weekends out of the month and our days were crazy long.
For some time now I have been gently pushing him to start looking for something else or at least see what else was around.
After any many arguments, rejection letters, no responses at all and only a few interviews a small bank decided to give him a go.
To say I am proud of him is an understatement (even though he has been an arse due to the stress of starting a new job for the first time in 4 years)
So we may still have long days and while we live where we do that’s always going to happen but now he will only be working every second Saturday morning and no Sundays or Thursday nights!!!!! So excited about the no Thursday nights!!!
Just realised we will be home in DAYLIGHT all through spring summer and autumn!
I really need to work out how to get some pictures on here when using my iPad to make the posts look pretty at least 🙂
Had taken a short blog break but am back now… yay!
So what has been going on in our neck of the world.
New craft… Went to a card making night at my lovely neighbours house this weekend just gone. It was a good night but dont know if its a craft for me, since I was constantly worried something wasnt right lol Was using tools and things I had never seen before but I am happy with what I made and I may have been a bit out of the box compared to what the others did with one of my cards.
The original design for this was a red and blue owl with some hearts and a single branch... I didnt really like the red and blue idea so went out on my own branch 🙂
A sneaky look on the inside of card.
Party… 13 SLEEPS!!! Yes I am very very excited about this. Slushi machine has been booked and just have to give them a call back and let them know what flavours I want. Sister is on the cake making job and can not wait to see what she does. As of next weekend the husband and I are both on leave so the house will get a clean and also have to work on the hanging jars for the candles. Should also get the BBQ off layby at some point soon as well.
Birthday Presents… I got my present early from the husband and I was very spoilt! He gave me a canon digital SLR and I love it! Need a few lessons though but I am learning on my own slowly atm. It takes great photos and can not wait till I can do more with it. Also MIL gave me my present early as well since she is unable to come to party and not sure when we will see her for dinner. She gave me a limited edition metal Flavour Shaker which is very pretty. Need an excuse to use it now 🙂
Pretty new toy.
Work… We moved to a brand spanking new office last week. Its a lovely change from being in a demountable for almost 2 years at this job, before that about another year and a half at last job. So yes a real building is a great change and its almost like working back in the city again. Its been a bit noiser than normal but thats to come from open plan offices but will get used to that again.
My desk in the new office. Really should have cleaned up for a photo but was spur of the moment while we were playing with my new camera.
Will be back shortly with another quick post.
While I wait for my loaf and rolls to do their final rise I thought I would share some photos from this week.
Also I have decided that December will be the month where I take a photo everyday. It is going to be my way to relax since we will be starting a major new computer system at work.
So onto this past weeks photos.
A little bit of beauty to brighten my days at work. My amazing Jude the Obscure rose finally flowered this week and boy does he also smell amazing as well.
We have a new baby in the paddock around our place. Such a little beauty but also a problem child since they can get out of all the fences and goes for a visit with the big boys across the road.
Take a guess 🙂
Sunday breakfast at the Ocean View Estate Winery. Was meant to be Birches but they were closed but we were very happy with the alternate. Was very lovely sitting on the back deck.
Farmhouse breakfast.... YUM absolutly delish chutney to accompany the perfect food.
We are beyond lucky to be living here.
So much for my grand plans to post the photos I had been taking every day! I am still getting intothe swing of things so hopefully soon I wont be so brain dead each night. Have been in bed and asleep but 10pm almost every night and for those that know me personally know that this is something I dont do ever.
So now for some photos. The majority of these are taken on the way to or from work each day in a car generally going 100km/hr so am very impressed with myself (ok well impressed with the camera anyways)
Literally around the corner from home we have cows! Ok we have cows around the house everywhere but that is beside the point.
Even with far to much morning sun I love this winding road.
Less sun at this time of the morning is a wonderful thing while driving down the mountain. OK no I dont like mornings!
Honestly... how many people get to see the Glass House Mountains from this kind of angle each and every day! Sure makes the idea of going to work each day a lot better.
Have finally settled in at work and have made it my own, well sort of.
Yes I am some strange homeless person that hangs out at the shops when almost everything is closed.
This is the most gorgeous sunset over my old workplace which almost makes it look like a great place.
That will probably do for the moment. Will do a proper post tomorrow full of worthwhile things which of course everyone will tune in for.
Well the first week of the new job is done and hitting the pillow at night has never been so good. Have felt bad though that I have not been able to update this week but with all the new work the head has been a bit jumbled and not being able to drink coffee makes for a very tired Liz. Its been lovely knowing though that shortly I will have an income coming in again and have so many things that I have on my to buy list. We have some large items on the list such as a lounge which we very badly need but also smaller things. With this money coming in though we will be sticking to our very tight budget though to ensure that we do not have these kinds of money problems again.
Today was spent with friends and the fur children. A few friends/family came around to help celebrate my birthday which was lovely and relaxing. A friend also brought along her very young lab who our boys loved after the initial hair raising antics because they have not had as much socialisation as they really should have. Am very proud of my boys though.
Received some gorgeous gifts today as well. I adore Dusk and surprise surprise I have been given some wonderful dusk candles and lanterns etc. Also I like Diva and have ended up with a really cute pair of earrings and a necklace which will get lots of wear. Now there is a tonne of food left over and half a big chocolate cake which I made so I know what we will be eating this week lol
There are some photos that I did not get to post this week and some more amazing sunrise ones because I was lucky enough to roll over and wake up at about 5ish one morning to the most glorious colours colouring our room so I ust had to go out and photograph it.
This was taken Sunday afternoon when a low cloud and drizzle covered the mountain and giving me the perfect chance to do more work on the blanket.
This is the chair I have made reference to previously that I plan to paint and recover at some point now that we have some fundage.
Have you ever seen such amazing colours before.
This will be printed and framed. This is one of the things I will miss most when we do have to move from here.
That’s all for the moment. Have much more to add but the head is ready to explode which is either from being tired or the few champers that I had today.
After a bit of a sleep in (the joys of the unemployed) I have now started work on the crafting area of the lounge.
So far the large book case has been moved to our bedroom and the desk has been moved into place. Now it calls for moving all the junk that has ended up on the floor from the bookcase. Its times like these that I realise how much of a hoarder I really am, actually Steve is as well. I have just found a Melways from 1998 (we live in QLD) and some 2 year old magazines, not to mention the old books and all the dust, spiderwebs and spiders 🙂
Time for me to get back to work but I am taking progress photos.
