Unplanned break

Well blog readers… Tooshy has been slowly dying and last night packed it in. While in safe mode I was thankfully able to back up all of my photos and other important info.
It was a fun morning as well trying to sort out the warranty which was stuffed up when purchased so there will be even more of a delay.
So right now I have to wait 3 days for the warranty people to fix the paperwork problem and then who knows how long it will take to have my computer fixed. If I didn’t have the warranty I would going straight out and getting a Mac.
Fingers crossed tomorrow the Officeworks manager will have some good news for me.
So until then or until I have the time and effort to do a proper phone post that’s it from me.

Miss my blog (and my computer) already.

One of those weeks…

You know those weeks when nothing really goes right?

I started the week with back pain to rival any I have had before. Thankfully I have found a wonderful person on the mountain who did a great massage for me this alleviated slightly.

Last Saturday I was attacked by sandflies… thought I got away without having any bites (which was an insane thought since I was covered in the stupid things) wake up on Tuesday morning COVERED in bites! Then I don’t just get little itchy bites but nice big allergy things which saw me covered in creams and cold tea (don’t ask but it works)

Friday just gone saw me come down with a lovely throat infection. Thankfully I already was seeing my doctor for a lady visit (which actually everyone when did you last have your pap smear?) because I wouldn’t have been able to get in to see her otherwise. So I got to leave there with antibiotics and low self-esteem after doctors terrible bedside manner.

Then today… for the first time in ages I was going to brave the laundry under the house and put on a load etc (normally The Husband does this) so 5 steps from the bottom I go for a massive slide and end up in a scream pile on the ground. Now I can’t stay as a screaming pile on the ground because well that’s the same area where we have red belly black snakes live! So I have to try and drag my screaming pile of self into the laundry where I continue screaming (while being watched with shock looks by my cats)
After all that though the clothes did go into the wash and I managed to drag my sorry arse back up the front stairs.

Oh and lets not forget the 2 bouts of gastro I had in a week and a half before this last week (that was so so much fun!)

You know what though… it could have been worse.
Yes I am laying here in a great deal of pain from head to toe (must take some more tablets soon) but I am laying here and alive.
I may have had a crappy few weeks but well they are over and I have made it through.

I thought the most appropriate photos I have for this post is my Thistle shot. Something that can cause much pain is still a good thing.

Still have so many things to catch people up on from my break but they will have to wait for another time.

From old to new.

When The Husband and I moved in together he brought some family furniture that for many years now has just been sitting unused as although they were lovely pieces the stain colour of the wood was well ick.

So this is what we had to work with…

There was a lot of sanding and re-sanding, then trying to work out how to remove the handles since they were not screwed in (hack saw worked)
Many coats of paint and a lot of self doubt later about my colour choices, painting skills and overall outcome and this what we have…

Still needs some touch ups done and finally have all the new knobs on now after loosing 4 of the 8 that I bought but we are happy with the outcome.
My teacups look great on it as well 🙂

Now to fill it with more of my favourite things.

Have you had any projects you have been working on?

And…. She is back!

After a short (long) hiatus I am back and very happy to be 🙂

There have been many things happening in our household while I have been gone but will fill in first one of my favourite things.

We have chickens! FINALLY!!!
Have only been asking to get some for years now and finally The Husband gave in (well was not really given much of a choice since I bought a coop)

We have 3 beautiful girls who moved in just over a week ago and have already started regular laying! We had 1 egg on the first day and then they started again on Thursday just gone. Friday my clever girls layed 2 eggs and then we have one more today.

I can not wait for them to be able to have some free range time on the weekends (or weekdays when The Husband is home) as they love grass and its already getting to be a pain having to pick it for them each day. Thankfully they appreciate it and they are gorgeous so I dont mind doing it.

So because I know photos are the best part I do of course have a few to share.

The Girls House

The Girls themselves!

Australorp cross (black) -Clara
Leghorn cross (white) – Nora

Our first egg!

Its been a long time coming but I am so very happy that I finally have some chickens.
Now to get back to our simple living and enjoying life.

So did you miss me?

So so so quick

Ok very very quick post right now as a mini catch up…
I so want to write whats been going on and keeping me away from my blog lately but I cant just yet.
I will however get back here soon to update when things are all finalised.

Oh and just checking up on the pen pals as well… Has everyone written their letters and posted them? I know I have 2 that should be floating around the world somewhere and hopefully another that will be out in the mail on Monday 🙂

Ok its after 11pm and I have been struggling to stay away all day.
ni ni for now but be ready for some big news next week!!!

Etsy Love: Love

Its been far to long since I have shared some etsy love so what better reason than Valentines day which is happening fairly soon.
Honestly I am not for the usual over priced crap and uninspired cards that profit large unloving corporations, but since I love etsy and it will support individuals I am all for it.

Simple and sweet and not to pricey either.

It may be tiny, but its a tiny handmade penguin with a heart... how could you not love it?

I ❤ Ewe. I know so many people that would love this.

Another sweet and simple gift option.

And last but not least this would be perfect for me *hint*

So clever and so perfect for well.. me and several people that I know 🙂

So what are you planning on getting the one you love this V. day? Hang on screw that… what do you plan on getting yourself???
